Location of Brbinj

It is located 19 km southwest of Zara in a beeline, from the village centre 21 km in a beeline, on a public road 27 km to the northwest in the middle of Dugi island. It is surrounded by two picturesque bays, Jaz and Lučina.
Brbinj is a very special holiday resort on the island of Dugi Otok. The place is beautiful, it is stoned and built of stone. The bay’s port is fully protected from the winds of the Adriatic Sea and it is suitable for the mooring of smaller yachts. A ferry port operates here thanks to its excellent natural characters. Brbiscica beach:

The narrow, natural beach with pebbles, Brbiscica lies about 3 km from Brbinj and it is a real hidden secret of the island of Dugi Otok. The beach is accessible by car on a narrow road or from the sea. The small bay is idyllic and silent. Along the coast, you can see an amazing landscape, steep cliffs and caves. There is no gastronomy, sports activity or other tourism infrastructure on the beach. The beach is ideal for romantic couples and dog owners and their pets.

Veli Žal:

Veli Žal is in the north of the island. This beach is opposite the island of Mežanj and about 10 km from Brbinj. The beach is characterised by the combination of fine white sand and small pebbles, but a part of the sea has rocks. Veli Žal is more than a kilometre long and it is uninhabited. This is a beach that can’t boast facilities like a beach bar, restaurants, or cafés. The colour of the sea is wonderfully blue and green and you can often spot dolphins swimming on the horizon. You can use Veli Žal parking lot for free on the coast bordered by thick pine trees, or you can arrive by sea, on a yacht or boat too.

Brbinjšćica:

Brbinjšćica is bay southwest of the town of Brbinj that you can find in the northeast of the island Dugi Otok. In Brbinjšćica bay you see giant rocks and many caves and this is one of the safest coast sections of Dugi Otok heading towards the open sea. The hidden bay that is less famous is also popular as a scuba diving place. Since it is in an isolated place, don’t forget to prepare food and drinks.

Sights in Brbinj

Brbinj was writing its own history for 800 years. A part of its cultural heritage is in connection with Glagolitic priests who were supporters of Croatian writing in history. Brbinj is located between two picturesque bays, the Jaz and Lučina, which are ideal for travellers by boat. The place has a ferry link and a post office. In the southwest of the village, you can find Brbinjšćica-bay surrounded by giant rocks and many caves and this is one of the safest coast sections of Dugi Otok heading towards the open sea. It is worth visiting the churches of the village, especially the parish church honouring the martyrs Saint Cosmas and Damian, but you can also visit the strengthened house of family Soppe from the 16th century.
